Finally! The “S-curves” on 116th Ave NE in the Kirkland Highlands are getting sidewalks. The project has begun.
Here’s what’s happening:
What: Installation of approximately 1,900 feet of concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, and street trees along the east side of 116th Avenue NE from the existing sidewalk at NE 94th Place, heading north and connecting to existing sidewalk at NE 100th Street.
Who: The contractor, Kamins Construction, will be working with the City of Kirkland to construct the 116th Avenue NE sidewalk in the Highlands Neighborhood.
When: Construction activity is excpected to start early February, 2010 with completion anticipated in May 2010. Typical hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
What to Expect: In order to complete the project as efficiently as possible, the contractor will be restricting parking along the roadway. No parking signs will be posted 24 hours in advance of all parking restrictions. During construction, there may be inconvenience associated with driving through the work zone; traffic control and flagging operations will be in effect. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the construction process.
