Kirkland, Washington rocks! According to the July issue of Seattle magazine, Kirkland is just behind Queen Anne as the best overall neighborhood in the Seattle area. According to the magazine, we are Seattle’s Sausalito, a suburb with great access to the water. Kirkland has:
- great Lake Washington access
- good schools
- compact, walkable downtown
- restaurants
- outdoor public pool
- parks, some right on the water
- reasonable access to Seattle
Seattle magazine picked the Top Ten Best Neighborhoods and Kirkland came out #7. The ratings are based on a study of 5 issues: housing affordability, WASL scores, minutes to downtown, crime rates and % of home appreciation.
All of these are great considerations, but what are your favorite reasons for living in Kirkland?

I have lived in many states and many cities across the US. I moved to Kirkland because it afforded all the things that are important to me. 1. A Casual lifestyle that allows me to walk to town, sit by the water, listen to a concert in the park or just enjoy one of our many coffee shops. 2. It provides me as a business person, the opportunity to build my business by being an active member of the Kirkland Chamber, networking through various community groups and bumping into my clients during both off and on business hours. 3. It has everything I need to keep my stress level under control: a beautiful lake I can sit and look at or enjoy a boat ride on; mountainviews that are majestic and serene, plenty to do to keep me active and a sense of community that lets me get to know the people who share this fabulous city with me. What’s not to like?
Hi Susan,
I loved your list! I agree with the casual lifestyle, the beauty of the area, and the sense of community. Kirkland is a great city and, hopefully, all the changes will only add to our lifestyle.
Thanks for giving your list.
